Various lower limb injuries occur in everyday life, and Dr.
Wilson enjoys managing such problematic cases. The keyword for success is the urgent management, preferably within 6 hours of the trauma. Another possibility is the presence of a tumour which is removed and the remaining defect needs reconstruction.
During the surgery, Dr. Wilson spends time and effort in meticulously repairing every single severed structure. He fixes the bone, repairs every single tendon, nerve, and artery carefully to ensure that the function returns to almost normal. Some of these surgeries may take 12 hours or more if free tissue is transferred from the back! After the surgery, the patient starts early physiotherapy to restore function as soon as possible.
Read about some of our more complicated cases below.
Lost Leg with bony fractures after a suicidal attempt: Patient fell voluntarily under a train, and had a leg amputated. The remaining leg was severely damaged. A free flap with skin and muscle from back was used to cover the defect and excellent function was restored.
Damaged Right Leg after a motor car accident: Muscles, tendons, nerves and vessels were repaired within 4 hours, and function was restored, and patient regained use of his leg, avoiding an amputation.
Damaged Right Heel after a motor car accident: A free flap from back was used to cover the defect and excellent function was restored.
Damaged Left Heel with bony fractures after a motor car accident: A free flap from back was used to cover the defect and excellent function was restored.
